What the Print Checks Now verification QR actually verifies.
It lets a recipient compare four signed fields with the paper check. It does not promise that the check is funded, authorized, genuine, or collectible.

What to do
Valid registration
The QR signature and registration match. Compare every displayed field with the paper before accepting it.
Voided
Do not accept the check. The sender marked its registration void.
Recalled
Do not accept the check. Contact the sender using a trusted channel.
Not registered or invalid link
Do not treat the QR as verification. Confirm the check independently with the sender and bank.
Temporarily unavailable
Try again later. Do not rely on an incomplete result.
ONLY IF YOU NEED IT
Essential verification questions.
Does “registered fields match” mean the check will clear?
No. It does not prove available funds, account status, authorization, bank acceptance, or eventual clearance.
Does verification detect check washing?
This cannot detect check washing. It does not inspect paper, ink, handwriting, endorsements, signature authority, or fields not shown. Differences in the four displayed fields are a reason to reject the check, but a match does not eliminate other fraud.
What if the QR is damaged or unavailable?
Do not treat it as verified. Contact the sender through a known channel and independently confirm the payment with the issuing bank.
How does the QR protect the shared details?
Payee, amount, date, and check number travel in the signed URL fragment and are compared in the browser. The service stores a limited registration record rather than the plain payee or amount. The public key is available at the official key endpoint.
